It is a beloved, time honored tradition here to speculate wildly about what the next big upgrade for Cirrus will be. (Pressurization! Inertial dampers! Cupholders! Pink airplanes!)
Some of us are actually right (sometimes). We just won’t tell you who…
I hope to start my ppl in the near future and hopefully one day I can fly a Cirrus. I am here to learn about Cirrus and to meet fellow Cirrus lovers and pilots.

If you really want to learn about Cirrus and meet fellow Cirrus lovers and pilots, I strongly suggest you join COPA. Only a small percentage of us ever look at the guest forum and there is an extraordinary amount of useful and important information available on the member forums.
What Tony and others are referring to is upgrading to a full COPA Membership, as a guest Member you are only allowed to participate in the guest forum, the bulk of the COPA forums are only available to full paying Members.
Just place an order for a G6 SR20. It says deliveries are q1 of 2025. So I’m guessing there’s a good chance it’s going to be the G7 generation? What are the odds of a FADEC engine on the sr20?
Please consider joining the Association as a full Members, I promise you won’t regret it, and COPA does too with a ‘no questions asked’ 30 day money guaranty.
I don’t disagree, but just how likely and what will constitute a G7 is more nebulous.
I don’t know about electronic ignition and Full FADEC, but perhaps enough functionality to allow for auto land is on the roadmap, but the truth is no-one knows, and Cirrus is very tightlipped about future updates.
I hear that the G7 is going to be a number of aerodynamic refinements, a five bladed prop, and some big, sexy 737 style winglets- all together it should add 7-13kts TAS. There will also be some really swanky paint and trim packages.
Or not. It could just be the long overdue tire pressure sensors.
Welcome to COPA! Join us! I promise we can help you pass the next thirty or so months in fun, productive ways.
The SR20 is a training airplane mostly. Cirrus switched to Lycoming in 2017 due to pressure from flight schools. Flight schools want simple maintenance and you can’t beat the Lycoming 360/390 family on that. They’re the king of training planes. I doubt Cirrus would gamble any significant changes in the SR20 and risk losing that market, unless Diamond poses a stronger competition with the DA40 NG.
I have a 2008 DA40 and the paint has held up great on it, the only spot I’ve had an issue with paint holding up is on the wheel pants of my nosewheel where I sometimes nick it with my tug pull.
Second engine not helpful as chute if your plan B to escape ice doesn’t work and airspeed and altitude can’t be maintained due to rapid and heavy ice accumulation overwhelming the TKS or even the FIKI system.
I’m on the 2024 list and paid a deposit and they won’t even tell me. I have Ben told the Production line being retooled during January 2024 and beginning of February 2024 is when production starts and the details will be disclosed to public… New exterior colors have been leaked but nothing else. New interior for sure rest is maybe fadec, etc…rumors…they know but all the sales guys have NDAs
