Saw a note indicating hotel was requiring masks at Scottsdale. Anyone confirm if they are required at planned events?
We are required to follow the minimum requirements/policies of the host hotel or local law, per our contract.
We do not have plans to “increase/enhance” this policy at this time.
Currently, as far as I have been made aware, this is the latest policy:
SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
Providing a safer environment for our guests and associates is a top priority. Consistent with the most recent CDC guidance, fully vaccinated guests are no longer required to wear face coverings or social distance in indoor or outdoor areas of the hotel, unless required by local law. We ask that unvaccinated guests continue to wear face coverings and practice social distancing when they are in public spaces inside the hotel.
I will check with the hotel again on Monday and update here accordingly if it differs from what is quoted above.
Everyone is welcome to wear a mask, regardless of
The hotel policy and local laws.
I don’t know what the hotel is doing, that is Erik’s role.
As an Arizona resident I can comment on local directions. The governor here is pretty much anti government mandates. I do not forecast the state moving back into mask requirements.
Businesses I visited today had signs asking non vaccinated persons to voluntarily wear masks but that non vaccinated were welcome to not mask up. No one seems to be asking for proof.
If masks end up being required it is unlikely to be a government requirement.
A Nevada experience last night… Here both vaccinated and unvaccinated are asked to wear masks indoors. Usually the theater version, mask on walk in, sit at table, mask off although many choose to not comply.
Last night my son and I though a couple of doughnuts might be a nice way to cap off meal my wife made. (I know, not the healthiest choice)
My son had a mask, I did not. The teenager behind the counter immediately and with more conviction than I’ve seen since March 2020 told me I needed to wear a mask by law. There was no one else in the place and with my kid (who is vaccinated) and the server masked I saw no real risk for them.
Being a good citizen I left realizing a rare moment was bestowed upon us. My son had reach into his pocket and buy the doughnuts.
I see there are no insurance options at registration. If there is potential for escalation this mask/social distancing “stuff”, we won’t be attending, or registering for that matter. Is there a way an insurance option could be added? I think I remember this on prior Migrations.
Erik,
This seems like a rather important topic to be closing in five hours.
I’ll only attend if they drop the pesky shirt and shoes requirement. I mean, the audacity!
This ship has sailed already, but I’m curious whether any investigation was ever done into hosting the event virtually. In the tech conference world, everything was starting to move back to in-person but quickly reverted to virtual conferences again.
Mask requirement or not, we’ll be wearing N95s just like we do everywhere other than home. Just got my 3rd vaccine dose in preparation as well. The biggest risk I see is the banquet dinner, since everyone will be face to face with no masks. We may sit that one out, even though it’s one of my favorite parts of Migration.
The teenager obviously had good sense.
I have to say that would not interest me in the slightest. Ok, maybe the slightest
Unlike a tech conference where you attend primarily for the learning to me Migration has been more about social aspects of Cirrus ownership. Namely the desire to go somewhere cool with our planes and visit with other Cirrus owners.
Certainly the presentations could be on line. But then the time on the convention floor or the time spent over a meal or glass of wine is lost. I would miss that, I cannot speak for others.
I get that that is considered risky in the COVID world. And yes, I know some members that normally come will not due to CV and I respect that. Hopefully this madness leaves us at some some actually wanting to not be on the monitor and actually be with others. A little weird after more than a year of avoiding people
Thats my point. I completely respect whatever others do. When I go to work, i comply with all the various masks and social distance rules. I am compliant and understand its part of the job. I understand many are also higher risk than my family.
Conversely, I get to chose the social side. I don’t want to be barked at to wear a mask by the pool, or have to wear a mask while listening to Roger teach or pull it down between cocktail sips at the mixer. If thats where we are, I will stay active on forums and enjoy the virtual interaction, but save the money and forfeited days of work to join next year once this hopefully abates.
When I went directly to hotel website, I thought I saw some resort imposed restrictions. I may have missed “non vaccinated” I will research again tonight from desktop. Thats why I asked.
This seems to be the latest from the Westin Kierland website:
Providing a safer environment for our guests and associates is a top priority. Consistent with the most recent CDC guidance, fully vaccinated guests are no longer required to wear face coverings or social distance in indoor or outdoor areas of the hotel, unless required by local law. We ask that unvaccinated guests continue to wear face coverings and practice social distancing when they are in public spaces inside the hotel.
Thanks for finding that. That seems to be the norm here in Arizona.
That’s truly inspiring…
Dreaming of that day…
