Wonder why people love the SR20?

If you wonder why people love the sr20 check out the article on the new commander 115. A really nice plane, cruise in the 160’s, nice leather, dual garmins, a little more useful load the sr20, and all for a cool 450,000 dollars…

Or of course you could by yourself a “c” sr20 and then get another for your favorite pilot.

That article is in Private Pilot, BTW.

The Private Pilot story said Commander sold only 24 planes in 1999.

Cirrus may frustrate our desires with the large backorder and long waits for delivery, but let’s remember it is that very demand volume which allows prices at half of Commander’s. Bravo Cirrus.

Yes, I think that’s the ticket for those who need four-six full seats and hefty baggage. Get that spouse a pilot’s license and buy 2 sr20s. Still cheaper than 1 A36, or 1 Saratoga HP, or 1 Commander, or 1 Ovation etc.

Just think how the repartee on 122.75 would be enhanced: “…no, I think we turn left at Sunol intersection, DEAR…” “Timmy, stop hitting your brother with the Lightspeed, or your mother will give you what-for on multicom…” etc.
