VK30

Whatever happened to the VK30 homebuilt?

There weren’t many VK30’s kits sold. Cirrus quit selling the kit to concentrate on the SR20.

I couldn’t tell you how many where sold or are flying, but I think the flying number is under 10 and maybe under 5. There is a guy that has a flying one that is based in Southern California, I think Van Nuys. It is a very nice looking plane!

There’s a guy here in Camarillo Airport, Ca who owns a VK30. He flew it during the airshow here about 2-3 months ago.

At last report, there were only two flying - one owned by Cirrus (I think) and the other by a private owner.

As of January, 2001, VK30 N94CM belonged to Cy Mehling. I talked with his son, who I believe was airport manager at TTN (Trenton). A photo of that airplane is in the Cirrus Photos section of this site.
