The virus is now sending e-mails that show it is “from” other forum users. The text is still the same, i.e., “I sent this to you to get your advice.”

called Compaq up…They “reverted the registry” took about 5 minutes and bingo …all fixed

Reverting the registry is a great idea IF the virus hasn’t hit any .exe files. Info is at the above page.

That’s correct — it’s the attachments that can get you.
A good practice to follow with attachments is:
(a) don’t open an attachment unless you know the sender and specifically requested that it be sent to you;
(b) even if you did request it, scan the attachment with your antivirus software before opening it.
