New E-mail viruses

Good People,

I just received an alert from a good friend knowledgeable in the ways of the Internet world.

This is an alert re two new viruses discovered within the past 24 - 36 hours, reportedly by Symantec and Intel. No virus screen exists to avoid them, it is said.

Following are their subject lines:

“A Virtual Card For You” and “An Internet Flower For You”.

The first will reportedly destroy your hard drive, while the second will reportedly destroy your boot up system.

Do not open either one. Each can be avoided by the delete key.

Good luck

Pete

This is yet another hoax - generally speaking if you receive an email purporting to warn you of a virus, that is attributed to some authoritarian source, that warns of hard drive destruction or other dire consequences, and urges you to tell all your friends, do NOT forward it on.

To actually protect yourself from real email viruses, ditching Outlook Express is a very good start, and not opening attachments unless you are quite sure of what they are is even better.
