The Swelling Ranks

Over the last two days I spoke with two friends who have started taking flying lessons. I had no idea they were intertested.

I do travel alot and recently have been bragging about how easy it is to make short trips in a small plane. I guess they took the bait and have been having a blast.

I asked them if they were familiar with the SR20. Both new a lot about it and new people who were supposedly getting one, etc. The PR is realy working!

Speaking of which, over the past decade we have really seen prices for used high performance single go up. With the introduction of the SR20 which blows most of these away in terms of speed, simplicity and low cost repairs (excepting the new 50 hour disposable continentals), the used plane market could see a big dip as production numbers increase.

Oh, and lastly, although I know political subjects are taboo on this forum, I did land at MCO (Orlando International) last week right before the Vice President. Imagine my surprise at the reception I got at Signature Flight Services with the police escort and all the men in black swarming around. Wow! Ithought to myself, Signature really works hard to impress their customers, even the C 210 drivers.

Then I turned around to see Airforce 2 arrive behind me and realized the pomp and circumstance was for someone with a bigger fuel bill. Major dissapointment.

The guy who flies in Air Force Two says the gravest threat to human life is the internal cumbustion engine. Maybe he knows something about TCM’s quality control.
