For the Jet-A crowd, Lee’s Summit (KLXT) is not far away and has CAA fuel available. Much more reasonable if you are a member. If you are going to base at KMKC and want a local guide to KLXT in your Vision to get fuel I would be happy to ride along for my first VisionJet ride.
For those looking for a unique dinner option for Friday the 29th, my wife Jen has found a Thai cooking class experience. We’ve done many of these over the years and they are a great way to get to know people while learning some things along the way. If you are interested, the link below will get you to their site. While the site says minimum of two for sign ups, Jen has alerted them to our group and will accommodate singles as well. Should be fun!
Jamie and I will be there!
I am combining this trip with some “work” in KC. I am flying into KLXT. Nontowered airport with 2 runways. It is closer to my clients’ location.
FYI in case anyone is looking for a non Wheeler option.
Ethan can provide greater detail if anyone has questions, but representatives from all KC area airports participated in this year’s Migration planing calls concerning arrivals and departures, and all would be pleased to welcome you to KC.
Please be aware that ground transportation to/from the Lowes will only be provided from Wheeler Downtown.
Is Garmin opening more slots for their Garmin Event/ Training/Tour?
Unfortunately no, space is limited by the resources available to host the training sessions and could not be increased.
What is the dress code for the “COPA Cabana” cocktail reception (for both men and ladies)? Look forward to seeing everyone there. Thanks.
COPA does not enforce a dress code at Migration, come as you are.
That said, many members choose to wear business casual attire to COPA Cabana and ladies often opt for cocktail dress, same holds true for Saturday evening’s banquette.
An example of last year’s COPA Cabana dress code. Then again, this was along the Florida coast. YMMV…
How about No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service?
Shoes optional. Many people wear sandals to the event.
Thank you very much – I am encouraging some folks who are new to COPA to attend Migration in KC, and they had inquired about typical dress at the events. See you there!
Can someone post the complete agenda for migration?
I expect by this time, if you are viewing this thread, you are going to Kansas City.
In that event, this might be of interest for you and those who join you.
In addition to Dennis’ recommendations, the World War I museum, Truman Library and Truman’s house are really interesting. Truman’s stuff is in Independence, MO - just a short drive from downtown.
I used to really enjoy the Airline History Museum at KMKC, but it has really gone downhill.
It is now permanently closed unfortunately, we had wanted to host a welcome event at the museum, but that was not to be.
I second Jerry’s recommendation to visit the WWI Museum, I was take aback by how incredibly well curated and interesting the museum is.
The WWI Museum is reachable from the Loews Hotel via the electric trolly and a short walk, really easy to visit, and don’t miss the view from atop the tower, well worth the extra few bucks for the ticket!
You may also enjoy the collocated Negro Leagues and Jazz Museums, both small but worthwhile IMO. The Country Club Plaza is a “must see” though 100 times better from Thanksgiving to January 3rd when it is lighted for Christmas.
