Lyc SB; Correct Engine for SR-20

For proof of the SR-20’s type of
engine, obtain from the issuing FAA
Aircraft Certification Office (ACO), probably in probably part of the FAA’s Great
Lakes (AGL) regional office in
Chicago, a copy of the SR-20’s type
certificate data sheet(TCDS). The
type of engine is one data point.

It seems to me that this ought to be available online. I went looking, and came up with this http://searchpdf.adobe.com/proxies/2/33/74/41.html Cirrus SR20 PDF Summary; but the full document, for which there is a link in the summary, won’t come up for me.

Does anyone have a better link? Will this summary will suffice as proof, since it specifies the Continental engine? I’m curious, especially since today’s mail brought me the Lycoming SB.

Mike,

Here’s the link to the SR20 TCDS. I will print it out and send it in with a letter to try to get my registration fixed. (Obviously we can only each do this for our own aircraft, although as I mentioned before I did inform them that there are several problems, and someone is supposed to be looking in to the problem).

If that link doesn’t work, just go to http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rghtml.nsf/htmlmedia/current_tcds_by_tc_holder.htmlthis link and find “Cirrus Design”.

Anyway, although I am hopeful that the TCDS will allow the FAA to update the database, I am not 100% convinced. Suppose I were to buy a Cessna 172 and re-engine it via one of the numerous STC’ed engines available for it – could I submit the C172 TCDS to the FAA and tell them to register the aircraft with the engine listed there, even if I had a different engine in the plane? In other words, the TCDS only shows the engine that was originally certified in the type, not necessarily what is in any specific aircraft.

Steve

Steve,

Great input - thanks.
