FADEC Insight (Very long)

Proposed 10 Commanments of the Church of COPA, ULC

  1. I am Cirrus your trusted airplane, who brought you out of Wichita and Vero Beach, out of the bondage of aluminum. You shall fly no other planes for none are as fast as me.

  2. Make many digital images of the Cirrus. Make images of the screens, gauges, engine and airframe. Do not bow before them but use them to help thy neighbor and illuminate the dim and uninitiated.

  3. You shall not utter the name Klapmeier in vain, for he brought upon the heavens this creation. To utter his name in vain will bring discord unto G2, G3, unto the 4th Generation

  4. Maintain thy airspeed, Lest the ground rise up and smite thee.

  5. Operate your engine gently, thy red knob is the key to long and fruitful flight.

  6. Thou shalt make Pilot reports often and distinguish yourself as a Cirrus Pilot

  7. Clean thy oil from thy belly. Do not rely on the false god of Air/oil separators.

  8. Do not covet thy neighbors PFD, Emax, TKS or Skywatch. Remember a six pack is good.

  9. Be not dismayed by the claims of those from Kansas. For they are beloved by many. My covenant is with you the Cirri Brethren, Go fast, Go lean, and prosper.

  10. Take a small portion of your increase and bestow it to the Church of COPA. It will return unto you many blessings.

ROTFLMAS. Nice job.

Vicki and I are still deciding where/when to get married…we could all have one helluva reception . . .

If you would like, I can marry you and Vicky at the Wed hanger party in Boca Raton.
I do accept donations.

Paul: I hate to admit this, but Dennis is right. Any Notary in Florida can marry people. As for ULC ministers… That is a good question. Any of you coming? (You know who you are?)

Well folks…we will see what transpires between now and then…Dennis, might end up taking you up on the offer…I will see how enthused the bride is about all of this:)

I am game if you are serious, but you need to get a marriage licence in Fl. No big deal, you just need to go get it and pay a few bucks

And if it doesn’t work out, my wife (who, BTW has the last name of White too) is a divorce attorney.

We give a discount if the marriage and divorce are in the same week

Dennis,

A Twofer sounds like SUCH a bargain, but I would bet that somehow YOU might end up with TWO Cirri:)…I’ll let you know long before we get to FL…Thanks!

That’s ok with me, but more likely, my wife would end up with her own Cirrus.
I only charge $1.00 to marry someone. The divorce attorney . . . on the other hand charges $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Please bring your aircraft registration with you.
Just make sure your aircraft is part of the Pre-Nup.

That’s what I like about this group…you are all so “forward looking”…

Thanks!

I know that many of you still think you can control the mixture better than a computer on each cylinder can.

Pete,

Welcome to the debate! I agree a computer should be able to do it much better. Unfortunately from everything I’ve seen Aerosance’s programming doesn’t. Adding the Power/Economy switch is simply adding back the mixture control, but only giving it two positions. The data TCM presented showed that their FADEC will not start enrichening the mixture to cool CHT’s until CHT’s go over 420F. I’d never let mine over 380. When asked about sensor reliability, they talk about fail-safe modes, not reliable sensors.

It is incredibly frustrating. The IO550N is the most efficient piston powerplant ever created. Yet it is still surrounded by 50’s technology. And I don’t knock FADEC because I’m opposed to progress; it just seems that they are getting it so wrong. The best I can say about FADEC is it can run engines better than many pilots. But it could do so much more, and I’m afraid its reliability may prevent it from doing even that.
