COPA!

YouÂ’ve asked for it. Well, now itÂ’s hereÂ… almost!

Beginning September 1, 2001 the Cirrus Owners & Pilots Association will be in existence to enhance your Cirrus experience. Whether you have taken ownership of your aircraft, are waiting for delivery, or you are just in the dreaming stage, we have something to offer you.

We will offer:

· Regional social gatherings

· At least two annual national events.

· A quarterly newsletter

· A web site featuring:

— § A Public and a separate ‘Members-OnlyÂ’ Discussion Forums;

— § A database of the current software version for your avionics with links for downloads, if available from the vendors;

— § Technical reference database of ADs, SBs, and other service issues;

— § The ability to submit service squawks for compilation and COPA recommended fixes;

— § On-line access to newsletters and all other COPA publications;

— § Links to Cirrus vendors;

— § A database of owner and service manuals;

— § Voluntary list of members, their aircraft and locations.

For those 220 or so lucky enough to be owners and all contract holders, we will provide the additional services and benefits:

· Access to a recurrent safety training program (available in 2002);

· E-mailed notification of important maintenance and safety issues including AD’s and SB’s;

· Liaison with Cirrus Design, other vendors to Cirrus and the FAA to represent the owners’ interests.

We are continuing to refine our current benefits and work on new features. The most exciting coming attraction is discounted group insurance, but we have a few others up our sleeves.

Until September while our web site is under construction, it will be open to all, but with limited functionality. We invite all of you to stop by, put on a hard hat, look around and learn a bit more about us at: http://www.cirruspilots.orgwww.cirruspilots.org

Mike et al,

If the organization is run as clearly and well-organized as the membership sign-up process we are all in for a big treat. Well done so far!

Chris

Dear Marty, Jeff, Bob P., Mike, Bob S., and Steve —

Thank you so much for creating COPA! This has obviously been a labor of love for all concerned.

I just submitted my membership application for two years at the introductory discounted rate. I encourage all SR20/22/21tdi owners and position holders to do the same!

Cheers,

Roger

It looks great!

Now the rest of us need to joining and make our contributions to make COPA a great on going benefit for all. My membership application is on its way.

Thanks

Bob

Nice job. I just signed up. congrats.

CONGRATULATIONS! Very good job. I’ve just filled in the application form; my $90 check is under way to your postal address.

Keep on!

Best regards,

Thank you everyone, you guys have put a lot of time and effort into COPA. I joined today for two years. If I can be of any help let me know. MIKE#396

Fantastic job; I’m signed up, just having a little trouble paying.

Paypal is a bit of a PITA. I tried to pay with them, but they insist on creating a new account, don’t give the option for me to tell them I already have an account, and refuse to let me in with my existing account. I’ve tried to use them before, and everyone I know has always given up and ended up using Yahoo payment services instead. Hope they work out for COPA, meanwhile I’ll have to send a check.

2nd is a real minor nit, but in the 21st century it is rather odd to be using software that limits usernames to 8 characters!

Wow! Great work. I just signed up for two years. -Mike

OK, count me in ASAP.

But first find a practicable method of payment for non US residents.

And try not to make use of JavaScript or some proprietary browser features on the site please .

Thank you very much,

Wilfried

P.S.: let me know if/how I could give you a hand, I’d be happy to give any support. GREAT job so far!

Just enrolled for 2 years. Seemingly significant omission from pilot information: a checkbox for CFI. It may be helpful to be able to find Cirrus CFIs at some point for BFRs, ongoing training, etc.

Chris,
Thanks. Lots of folks have been working very hard to get this show on the road, but the extraordinary achievement that is the web site is mostly thanks to Steve Lin’s hard work.

See the site itself for some - by no means all - of the other team members.

  • Mike.

Would love to join, but the site is configured only for Americans. The payment system does not recognise that there is a world out there that is not the USA. Also it asks for a three figure number that is supposed to be on the credit card. Not on any of mine.

We love everyone, regardless of which side of the pond you are on, or for that matter which pond you’re across!

We appoligize for any inconvenience, but our credit card vendor can only process cards from within the US. If you want to join, and we really want you to, please just send us a check, money order, etc in US dollars (please).

OK I have spent a couple of fruitless hours running around various banks here and it seems that I cannot get any International Money Order or check unless I wait from 3-12 days. Furthermore it will cost me an extra $30-40. I dont think I am prepared to do all that.

I suggest that you inform your card vendors that there are about 300 million inhabitants of the USA but at least 10 times that amount outside. If they still cant recognise payments from the world out there then you should dump them.

Sorry, the web site looks great but unless this is sorted out I dont think I can participate. By the way, I am able to renew my American Yankee Association membership simply by faxing my credit card details. Why not here?

Thanks Robert. That is very kind of you. But I have now heard from Marty that they will help me out. Obviously this could be a problem with other nEuro-Cirri (and elsewhere), so hopefully this problem will get sorted out in due course. Anyway, I hope COPA becomes a great success.
