Calling COPA Golfers for Migration 2024 Golf

The 2024 COPA Migration is scheduled for Thursday September 26, 2024 to Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the beautiful Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale AZ. The resort has a Troon managed golf course on site.

During the previous Migration at the same resort, we were unable to attract enough golfers. I am trying to gauge member interest early enough, so I can arrange tee times both on September 26 at Noon and on September 29 in the morning.

This activity is independent of COPA Migration. Once I have a count, I will arrange the tee times, and you will be able to reserve your slot via a non-refundable booking that Ethan Narber will set up.

I plan to play on both days. Please indicate on the survey below if you are interested in a round of golf with fellow COPAns. The times are tentative, and will be firmed up as we approach the event.

Both rounds at the same course ?

Yes. It’s at the resort, so we don’t have to worry about transportation.

I likely will play with you one of those days. On the other, I plan to play a different Troon Prive course while there.

Scott, there are two courses at the Kierland Resort. I played both two years ago. Depending on the session schedule, I will likely “sneak out” either Friday or Saturday afternoon.

I don’t want to vote and have you count on my attendance. I’m not 100% on attending migration yet. If I do attend, I’d likely sign up for Thursday. Friday morning would be better though.

It looks like I can not go to the COPA migration this year so I am going to have to pass on golf.

Sign me up for Friday, if there’s an option. I registered for Migration and booked flights. I arrive at 10:30 AM on Thursday, so I could be talked into a PM round on Thursday, too.

Jim the options were Thursday/Sunday.

At the time @Shyam_Jha_CSIP was going to try to arrange things.

He has stepped away from COPA for now.

I cannot say at this writing whether there are any plans or scheduled tee times.

I am looking into this with Westin Kierland and will be able to provide an update in the near future on if we are able to gather a few tee times for everyone. Stay tuned!

Thanks everyone.

Ethan

Yeah, he’s missed.

I would imagine that Friday morning was not an option because Shayam was on the board and would be in a board meeting on Friday. With Shyam not joining us, maybe Friday is now an option? There are plenty of tee times open for Kierland 1 the 27th right now at $179. There are also tee times widely available for Thursday afternoon on Kierland 1. Neither Kierland 2 nor Kierland 3 show availability. They may be closed.

Anyway, I am open to play Friday morning, if anyone is up for it. I can be talked into Thursday afternoon, but I will have to distract my wife by sending her to the spa.

Anyone?

Friday morning is the annual member meeting. Not to be missed, even for good golf.

Migration dates are during overseed season but the Westin, with three nine hole courses, rotates their overseeding to try to keep at least one nine open. It’s all weather-dependent.

Played Kirland 1 about 2 weeks ago while at Simcom. Good tract but hot as hell even at 9am. They had just punched #2. Great service and worth the time if you can play. They have 3 nine hole courses. Free Gatorade to boot.

Hi all,

Update on golf slots available… There are currently 12 open slots for COPA Members to book at the Westin Kierland Golf Club on Thursday the 26th. Tee times are from 12:00pm-12:18pm. Rate is $170+tax per person.

To book your tee time, please send an email to both people listed below. They will confirm your time via email, please don’t call the course for booking. You must book your tee time no later than September 15.

Taylor Lifgren: taylor.lifgren@troon.com

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Thanks,
Ethan

I’m flying commercial and don’t land until 10:30 AM. With rental car pickup, and getting my wife checked in, I don’t think I can make it.

Thank you for pulling this together.

I’m in. I just sent the email. Now I just need to get there in time!

I’m driving down from Vegas. should be able to make it. Can’t wait.

If anyone wants to play Desert Mountain that week let me know. 3000 foot elevation ( cooler)and much better courses for less money ($125 thru 9/30/). it is about a 30 minute drive from the hotel.
