Any new production info???

I hate to sound pushy about the plucky young airplane builders of the frozen north, but does anyone have any indication that more planes are moving out the door, to actual customers? It was great to hear that 7 planes were registered in November… but if the production pace is going to keep rising as planned, that would imply that some similar number should have been registered in December, right? (Yes, I know that registrations happen in lumps, and that December contains holidays, etc etc. But still…)

Any lucky low-number customers been notified that delivery is imminent? Any other production sightings? I hope that Cirrus’s amazing success in selling planes is soon matched by production feats, since today’s two-year waiting period is premised on a very high production rate. What does anyone know? Thanks, Happy New Year, Jim F.

The November registration figures are based on the FAA database, which is only updated once a month. I think it was updated 13th December, to reflect November’s figures. So the next FAA data will be available around mid-January.

I got an email from Cirrus that said serial #14 was expected to be ready for delivery early January, which is only a few days later than the last estimate (which was for #14 to roll out the door by the end of 1999). Then there are expected to be 3 more delivered in January (one a week).

That’s encouraging news, thanks. I think it will make a huge impact on the perception / presence of this plane when there are enough of them around that people can see them routinely in action, learn that they’re real rather than fantasy, compare them with the standard 172 or even Bonanza on the ramp, etc.
