James,
Did I miss the Thanksgiving lunch at Madison or did it not take place this year? Fly safe.

Are you referring to Mike Murdock’s annual bash in Huntsville? I think I saw you there. I believe it was held this year but I could not make it. The word on the street is that Mike is very concerned that attendance will plummet if I don’t show up.
As you might expect, everyone comes to see me. [:)][:)][:)]
I didn’t see anything mentioned about it. I planned to be there for you. Maybe next year.
Interesting you had that Expeience.
I went from a 172 (40hrs did the solo) and straight to the 22T. I found the initial landing to be tough vs the 172.
What’s AMAZING about the 22T,
If you bounce on landing, and start to enter a porpoise rhythm, it’s a zinch to get out of with a burst of power and appropriate right rudder applied and a little back pressure and wings level. Something you practice by hitting a long runway and take off / land / take off / land / take off / land several times in the same 10k stretch. This technique isn’t thought. A go around is the solution for most. The safest solution for those whom have not mastered how to use the power which is there at least in the 22T to correct such an event extremely well.
Technically… the SR20 G6 is a high performance AC right…at nearly the bottom of that definition.
Having flown the G6 at MTOW I agree with Scott, no extra power, certainly not when you get to KLAS temps, means one less option in the ADM bank.
Perfect trip for the newly minted, their CSIP and 300lbs of go juice.
Totally agree. That first landing with an aft CG can be quite a surprise and a recipe for PIO (pilot-induced oscillation) in the flare.
As an aside, the power-loading (lb/hp) for the SR20 is at the weak end of the fleet. Some care need be applied when operating where you want to have some power in reserve (high, hot, downdrafts, etc.)

Hello all! OP here. It’s been a while. I just wanted to thank everyone who participated in this thread. I didn’t actually fly this flight because of various reasons. I was already on the fence of making it, but I’m glad I didn’t, and your responses among many other things have been a part of my ongoing effort to flying more safely and knowledgeably.
Thanks again for everyone’s advice, and I wish you all the best!
Did you get your ticket?
Yeah I got it March of that year.
Glad prudence ruled the day and you decided against the flight. There needs to be margin in our preflight considerations. Personally, in my G5 22 I add 40% to takeoff and landing distances as specified in the performance charts. I went back and read the post and appreciate all the discussion it prompted.
