The First Southeast Cirrus Fly-in ...

… will be in Northern Alabama at M82 (Madison County Executive Airport) on Sunday, August 26th.

It will probably run from 9 AM to 6 PM or so.

The local FBO, Rocket Aviation, will provide a grill and a cook, and I’ll provide the food and drinks. They have also generously agreed to pump 100LL at the home-base price for all who fly in.

Anyone flying a Cirrus (or 260se), or anyone who is seriously Cirrus-curious is welcome to fly, walk, drive, or hitch-hike in.

We will have at least one SR22 (mine), and at least one SR20. I’ll be happy to give rides in my SR22 until I get tired of giving rides.

How far is it from your airport to M82? Use Aeroplanner (http://www.aeroplanner.comwww.aeroplanner.com) to find out. Just click on “Trip Planner” and fill in the blanks.

Hope to see you there. If you plan on coming, please reply to this posting or email me so I can
get an estimate of the crowd size.

Mike,

Betty and I will be there by lunch time. We will likely bring along another couple with us. I will be happy to give a few SR20 rides for the sslower folk in the crowd. See you then.

Let me add that position holders or even those who just want to see an SR20 or SR22 in person are all welcome to the fly-in.

If you’re driving your Plymouth Valiant instead of flying, you can find directions to the airport on the FBO’s web page:

http://www.rocketaviation.comwww.rocketaviation.com

Click on “About the Airport” for written directions, or “Maps & Area Sightseeing” for a map.

As far as other attractions (a bunch of Cirri is not enough?), the Space and Rocket Center is definitely worth a visit. They have an SR-71 Blackbird (even faster than an SR22!) on display and lots of other cool stuff.

Mike -

I’d love to attend, but don’t get back to SC until early October.

But, keep me in mind for future SE flyins.

Mike,

I will try to be there, schedule permitting. I live in South MS and will have my SR20 in Oct-Nov timeframe. Being an order holder for 3 years now, I would love the chance to actually see one in person. Hope to be there. Walt

Mike, I assume the center is close and will be open on Sunday? I know, I probably could have gone to the rocketaviation site and it would have told me.

Put me down as a “probable” at this time - will confirm.

Mick,

The Space and Rocket Center is open on Sunday,

from 9:00 AM 'til 6:00 PM. It’s about a 20 minute drive from the Madison County Executive Airport. There is a courtesy car at the airport, and I’ll try to reserve it for fly-in folks.

You can find more information about the Space and Rocket Center at:

Hope to see you at the fly-in.
