Stormscope issues

We had a stormscope installed in our SR20 many months ago and have never been able to get it to work correctly. (Factory installation wasn’t an option when our plane was delivered). When it was first installed, strikes always appeared at 11:00 when in the 100 or 200 mile range. After it was worked on by the avionics shop we started get massive strikes at the 3:30 position (at any range). Right now the unit is our of the plane and has been sent back to the factory. Has anyone had problems with the stormscope (especially non factory installations)? Thanks.

When I went to Cirrus to pick up 122KM on June 11th, there was a delay. Apparently the Stormscope showed numerous strikes. After a team of Cirrus people hovered around my plane they determined that the wire mesh that is used for lightning protection was 2" longer than normal and caused the interference with the stormscope antenna. They removed the 2" and it has worked flawlessly for 3 weeks now or another 23 hours on the hobbs. Rick Kummerow
