Is the SR22 engine prone to the same problems as the SR20 or it is a different powerplant? Does anyone know if the SR22 engine has been used on any other airplane; if so what kind of a record it has on that application?
As I understand it, the SR22 will sport the same engine, the IO/550, as the Bonanza A36. It’s a powerful, smooth, engine with a long track record.

You can actually say the same about the IO-360 used in the SR20. There’s nothing wrong with the design of either engine, all the TCM problems that have occurred can be laid at the feet of poor quality control.
