SR 22

Any news on the SR22; is the engine going to be better than that of the SR20?

The SR22 engine most likely will be the TCM IO/550, a 300hp engine identical to that has been used in the Bonanza A36 since 1984.

Other changes: Bigger gas tanks, wider wingspan, presumably more useful load (1200 lbs?), and a 75% cruise speed north of 180kts.

Also: Top line avionics throughout. Alan Klapmeier’s wants the SR22 to be an “IFR for the masses” kind of plane.

The upcoming Oshkosh show should reveal more details on the SR22.

It sounds like a really cool plane . . . as a Bonanza A36 owner, the SR22 has the load and speed I want. Now, Cirrus, just be sure to include the option of factory AC! You spend too many days in frozen Duluth!
