Off Topic - Parking at San Jose

This is directed at the bay area crowd, esp.

those based at SJC (Ed et al.): What is

going on at San Jose International as far as parking?

I noticed an entire set of GA hangars gone

when I flew in there earlier this week (presumably

part of the runway reconstruction). Where did they

move you - or have people been banished from the

field?

More disturbingly, the transient parking fee

(for my measly little renta-C-152) was

$50 (!!!) per night!! This is an order

of magnitude higher than the last time

I flew in there - less than one year ago. I
suppose ACM, the Jet Center, & the operators

of the airport have conspired to gouge

general aviation. It is slimy that I wasn’t

even told of the fee when I left the plane

there (had I known, I would have hopped in

and flown it over to Reid-Hillview).

There’s my whiny moment of the week. Too

bad I’ll never be landing at KSJC again.

We were screwed by a adulterating mayor,I hope he gets every thing he has coming. We are bieng pushed out, the hangers promised at other airports were the carrot in front of the horse. Our tie Down went from 183.00 to 368.00 over night!j Next time if you park at the jet center and fill up parking is free, (1,000 gallon jet a min!)…Ed

Runway 30R (which used to be the shortest of the lot) is being turned into an 11,000 foot monster. Once that is done, 30L will close so that it can be resurfaced and extended as well. Thus all the GA parking at the approach end of 30R (and the original terminal building, among other things) has fallen victim to the wrecking ball.

Meanwhile, there is no longer any parking available for even the big guys, as lots of silicon valley types are buying G-Vs and Challengers and Citations. So the rates get adjusted accordingly.

Sucks.
