Leather interior

I will need to decide my options in the next month or so. Is paying the extra $3300 worth it for the leather?

Would you buy a luxury car without a leather interior? Probably not, so why pay around $200,000 for an airplane and not have a leather interior? Practically speaking, I think the leather would be more durable and, if hangared, will hold up for a long, long time and look new with minimal care. The resale is going to be quicker and easier. If you are going to cut back a bit, drop the three-bladed prop since it doesn’t add performance, only unnecessary weight, which the Cirrus can ill-afford, although it does look cool.

Well heres my two cents.

If you live anywhere that gets damned

hot or any other adverse conditions,

dont get leather .It always seems to be
the wrong temp.Ive never seen a leather

car over 6 years old that didnt have

decaying leather .on the other hand

cloth can go a long time and still look

good.Especially with some sheepskins

on it.I heard (I think from a Cirrus

rep at AOPA Long Beach) that the seat
covers are a snap on attachement.Maybe

you can change them latter. Can anybody

confirm that? Good Hunting.

I agree. The only way to go is with sheepskin covers. I had them in my Bonanza and nothing could be more comfortable.

I agree with Dan about leather decaying on some cars after six years, if not garaged most of the time. One of my cars is garaged almost all of the time and doesn’t show any damage after 5 years, despite being left out a few hours a day. Your likely situation with the airplane – hangared almost all of the time and with heatshields or a Bruce-type cover when traveling – would be even better because I don’t use heatshields on the car. If you hangar get leather, if you don’t buy
cloth.
