Fabric Interior

Does anyone have a good photo of the SR20A interior fabric with shadow grey trim or have a plane with it in ?

Like your views on the fabric - trying to save a few pennies
in return for the Avidyne or 3 blade prop.

Thanks

Robert

Robert,

I have the leather, not the fabric interior, so I don’t have the photo you want. However, after owning N84MR for a year, I’m comfortable saying that having a cloth interior would have suited me just fine, so with 20/20 hindsight, I wish I’d have saved those $$$.

Another place I would not spend my money again (on an SR20) is the 3-Blade Prop. Yes, it looks sexy on the ramp, and it maybe a tad quieter - but only enough to notice if you fly both 2- and 3-blades fairly often (it’s a close call). The downside is that it costs more to buy, more to maintain, and eats into an arguably challenged payload.

By the same token, I’ve sat behind the ARNAV MFD for a year, and had a chance to play with the Avidyne. If I had it to do again, even with a choice, I’d go for the Avidyne at this point.

IMHO, YMMV, etc…

Mike.

I have the newer Gray Fabric and I realy like it I get so many complements on it. I personly think it looks beter than the and feels beter than the leather. If you can get past the statis thing. I thing in the sumer even more so on the comfort leval I have picture I will try to post later today Also the trim is some sort material that looks like leather its realy class act. And it cost a lot less. From Don

Some sensible arguments here…

But over the big pond. in Europe, General Enterprises offered me to buy back the SR20 ($ 15.000 advance payment) any time, as long as I went for the leather option, 3 blade prop (due to noise considerations, altough it DOES look sexy) and the S-tec 40X (S-tec 30).

As I understand now, the first two options don’t make much sense if you keep the plane

I have the leather, and I love it. I don’t like the heat, and it St. Louis the leather wasn’t a problem.

My friend two hangars down has the SR20 fabric. I’ve spent lots of time in that plane, and it looks and feels great too.

Being well-exposed to both, you won’t go wrong.

Robert, I have never even seen the fabric seats or the Avidyne, so I cannot comment, but I agree with Mike on the prop. One other consideration; the lighter, 2 blade prop moves the CG slightly rearward, a good thing as well.

Having been convinced by Mike that the 3 blade prop was not worth the extra money, weight and CG changes, I have started to observe more SR 20’s as they come into my area.
Having seen over 10 planes now, more split between 3 and 2 blade props, I have to honestly say that the true “sexiness” of the airplane is the sleek line of the plane itself, not the propeller. The airplane is wonderful to look at without a prop.
Whether you get 2 or 3 blade, I do not see the overall appearance of the plane changing that much at all.

It would be nice to see here too. I like the leather but living in Florida I just don’t find jumping into a hot plane on HOT leather seats appealing. For that matter the 3 blade prop made no sense either. So I’m waiting for both in Sep 02 !
