Is the West Coast Fly-In still on?

Brothers? Comrades?

Yes, the Santa Barbara fly-in is still on!! Arrive 12:00 PDT - taxi to Mercury Aviation on the southeast area of the airport. Lunch at 1:00 at the Beachside Bar/Cafe (nice place, right on the ocean), a short walk from Mercury.

Duats indicates Wx to be broken with mist and clearing. Do you agree?

Dan-

It should be easy VFR by 11:00am. It is

already starting to clear out where I

live (2 nm west of the field). Congratulations on your newest ticket.

Hi Dan,
The sun’s breaking through at our place (about 4 miles east of the airport, close to the VOR 25 final approach course) at 9:40 AM. So the forecast of clearing appears accurate. Who says this isn’t the Marvel age of instant individualized weather reporting?
But since you just got your ticket, you should be looking for IFR conditions! Besides, you’re probably sharper at your approach procedures now than most current instrument pilots…

See you around noon! Your ride in the Metropolitan has been reserved…

Cheers,

Roger

Well, we tried. IFR at 11:30; had to divert to Santa Ynez. Twicw I’ve been punked by the weather at a SB Fly-In. Sorry I couldn’t be there.
