Me too I would go with a Cirrus SR22T over the DA62.
Can the FADEC self diagnose the engine after a prop strike…just replace the blade?
Saw this on Twitter. Does the auto engine require tear down for Austro prop strikes?
Actually, no! Due to the gearbox design on the Austros, they have a dual mass flywheel which separates the engine from the propeller. In the event of a prop strike, you repair the prop/governor and replace the flywheel. No tear down required.
Mike,
I thought there was some visual thingy built into the flywheel or somewhere which could mandate a tear down. It is supposed to be extremely rare, but it is possible.
Tim
How do you destroy a single blade and not scratch the others?
Maybe got hit by a vehicle while parked? Weird.
Huge money saver if the owner doesn’t need an engine teardown. Insurance should reflect that standard.
