Cirrus SR22 G7

$23.5k for a stock style paint scheme on an SR, and up from there with custom stuff. SF50 $60k plus

OK, 60K for a job that lasts 1 year… How much for a job that can last 10 years like on my cars, 600K? Looks like we need some new paint technology.

That’s disingenuous. He clearly stated the warranty lasted a year; not the paint. Then he clearly said that he almost never gets complaints, even years afterward.

My truck probably had a one year warranty. Yet, it’s fifteen years old and still works perfectly. Should I complain about how crappy the warranty was?

Haha. You should probably check out some of his work in person.

Last I checked your cars don’t fly 250 kts through rain

If the best Cirrus can do for G7 is some slightly better paint, TPMS, and GoPro mounts, then the value of my G5 should stay pretty high. Here’s hoping

For you $600k

Agreed. We keep comparing planes to cars. I also don’t get it.

Speed.

Vibration.

Extreme temperatures.

Etc.

Appreciate Ross for joining the thread. Seems time available in prep, paint, and finish is the rate limiting quality issue for new airplanes, and the big difference between a Midwest job and a factory new job. T-I-M-E. Painting stripes on a design like my plane could easily add a week to the job. Not really feasible when producing multiple planes/week with a 10 month backlog. Despite this time constraint, I still took delivery of a plane with an excellent paint job. It’s too bad some others have not had the same experience.

The hardest wear factors on airplane paint jobs are 200mph rain drops, and the owners. We see planes we painted 10 years ago that look like the day they left the showroom. Then we see 5 year old ones that are abused and trashed.

I will say the Sherwin paint we and Cirrus have been using for the last 5 years has been many times more resistant to rain erosion compared to the previous PPG.

I’m with you 100% Michael!

For anyone who is thinking of adding some aftermarket automotive TPMS sensors to their airplane tires, don’t. See this thread. Also, see this post re an attempted aircraft TPMS that was shut down by the FAA.

@foup Diamond did miss a trick with the BRS, especially when they were certifying a brand new aircraft. BRS in the Diamond would have forced innovation and competitive pricing. For now, Cirrus is the “Blackberry” of the pre iPhone cellular world!

I agree. I dont know what is the deal with the turboprop DA50 either, would have been great with BRS and pressurization.

Sure, these are created by Brian over on the Member Marketplace forum (see the 2.0 post). He put them up on eBay for ease of purchase, https://www.ebay.com/itm/224427988718

What if you want to breathe and record videos at the same time?=

This is when all that practice as a little kid seeing how long you could hold your breath under water becomes useful
