From a source at S-tec:
“S-Tec just recently elected to suspend the sale and production of the System FortyX and FiftyX autopilots until further notice.”
No further explanation was given.

The most recent information I have on this is an e-mail from Dennis Tolleson. Mr. Tolleson is the chief sales person at S-Tec. His e-mail to me is dated October 26, 2000. It reads “Dear Mr. Shirley, S-TEC is currently in discussions with Cirrus regarding the suspension of sales of the System FiftyX and a decision is pending.”
Since Cirrus has announced that the first 100 SR22’s are the B configuration this could cause a substantial delay in the delivery dates. There is no equilivant product to S-Tec.
I have an e-mail question to my sales person at Cirrus. I asked about this subject. I have no reply as yet.
Does anyone else have any information? I am surprised your posting did not get a any responses. I found out about this not from your posting but from a posting on the Avionics West web site to the same effect.

I believe the SR22 B configuration is equipped with the System 55X as is the SR20 C configuration. It seems the only planes affected will be SR20 A’s and B’s. I guess they will just have to make the 55X standard on all configurations, with the appropriate price adjustment.
