On two separate occasions now, I have had the Arnav display show “ACQUIRING” and losing the data source from the 430. The 430 works fine. If you go into Arnav menu and press “exit” the signal from the 430 is re-acquired. Within about ten seconds, it drops out again with the same “ACQUIRING” on the Arnav display. This can repeat for a dozen cycles or more. Each time you exit from the Arnav menu, it updates the display, shows current position, etc. and then drops out. The problem disappears at random. It happened yesterday, and two weeks prior. Cirrus says to call Arnav and get it replaced. I am going to do that, but thought I would share this with you all.
Any others experience this??
I have exactly this problem. ARNAV sent me a new screen, and I did the replacement myself, and since then the problem has not recurred.
They’re the experts. But my amateur observation is that the crucial variable is how tightly the “cannon connector” that links the Garmin to the Arnav is tightened. Cirrus/Arnav has some instructions for removing the ARNAV screen – not that hard, once you get the crucial 5/64" (I think) Allen wrench. There’s a bundle of wires in the back connecting the Garmin to the Arnav. Try tightening them first! I started to have Acquiring problems with the new screen, I re-tightened the bundle, and since then it’s been ok.
Didn’t do a controlled experiment of first tightening the old screen to see what happened. But you could try this. (And if the experts tell you this can’t be the problem, then never mind.)
I have had exactly the same problem in 163CD. For me it only happens when shooting an ILS. I talked to Cirrus; they said talk to ARNAV. The latest is ARNAV’s suggestion that it may be due to Cirrus installers overcrimping pin ten. They told me to have this checked; I have not yet contacted Cirrus about this to see if they will pay for this check and possible fix. Meanwhile I stab madly at the ARNAV Exit button every few seconds on the approach while keeping one eye on the Garmin, the other eye on the localizer and glideslope and the other eye on the ARNAV.

Jim: Thanks so much. I talked with Arnav today, and they think it might be the connector, also. So I will have it tightened on the current unit and report back. I appreciate your help.
Hello Bill,
This is why you keep making missed approaches, you need a third eye to look outside.
Cheers,

Just how many eyes do you have? (-:
I have had similar problems with the acauring too. Changing the Garmin map scale(maybe dumb luck) brings it back up.
But then I am challenged due to only 2 operating eyes.
