ARNAV burn up (PIREP)

I’ve read a few posts regarding the ARNAV connection being loose and wonder if what I heard today is related. I went to Ft Myers, FL to take up the SR20 they have at the flight school there and the ARNAV burned up a few days earlier, filling the cabin with smoke. According to the CFI I went up with (who flew the plane the day the ARNAV burned) they were having some intermittent display problems prior to this event. Please just be aware.

Mine smoked out after about 210 hours. The good news, it was replaced by ARNAV within a week with a loaner while they examine the original smoked out unit. The bad news: this was back in March and I haven’t seen my original unit back and the stormscope needs some other firmware setting, so no +'s on screen…

If you get motivated, select “SETUP” on the ARNAV when it first boots up. There are a bunch of options in there for turning on the stormscope.
