I recently had a factory rebuilt engine installed. I have since put about 70 hrs on the new engine. It was getting up to 220 right after install so we had the oil temp sensor and vernatherm replaced. Now the oil temp is consistently 200-210. Is that normal? I don’t remember what it was reading before the new engine, but thinking it was more like 180-190 in cruise.

My engine (IO550N) has about 1900hrs and will be replaced soon. But looking at my rececent flights, I always run at lean of peak and at 65%, my oil temp is 180deg at cruise with 13.1 gph fuel burn. It seems that your running rich of peak which would cause engine oil temp to run higher.
This summer I purchased a 2004 SR22 with 70 hrs on a SFRM and was having a similar problem with oil temp running just over 200 deg. The previous owner didn’t recall it running high before the rebuild so we ended up replacing the oil cooler - that should have been rebuilt but apparently wasn’t (just one of a number of things that Continental neglected). As soon as the new cooler was installed my oil temp stays right between 150 and 165… Other things this ‘new’ engine needed include a fuel pump and throttle body assembly, but it is running great now
