A number of other posts mentioned that if
the Cirrus had retractable gear it would be
a complex aircraft. From my under standing
of the prop you don’t have any control over
it, so for rating purposes does is count as
a varible pitch prop?

It sure would be complex. The FARs are specific about the fact that the prop is adjustable; they don’t care how it is controlled.
In addition, it would be High Performance, as the SR22, because of more than 200 hp.
BTW, what is wrong /difficult about flying a complex plane?

Sources say Cirrus v3.0, the SR24, is planned as an SR22 with retractable gear . . . 195 ktas.

Only the retractable gear. See the "Future
Cirrus RG" thread for details.

I spoke to a guy today whose firm is in the business of helping companies like CD raise capital. When I mentioned a rumored SR22 retractable he said, “Oh yeah, the SR24.” He wasn’t certain they intended to begin producing it next year or 2002. Frankly, I’m gonna give CD a call and inquire as to whether I can swap delivery of SR22 position #62 (and a few grand of course) for the retract.
