Any ideas as to what technical reason their could be that the Storm-scope option is not available with the “A” option? Do you think this is just a marketing ploy?

I can’t think of any technical reason, but you could always get it fitted as an aftermarket item, and save yourself about $3000 in the process.

The Company just posted an answer to this in the “facts” section of their site. Apparently, the HSI in the “B” and “C” configuration inputs a heading correction to the WX-500 so the display takes into account any wind correction angle.
This seems like a pretty weak excuse. After all, we automatically take our “crab” into account now with traffic alerts. Also, we’re not going to be cutting it that close anyway.
In any case, Clyde’s suggestion is a good one.

There is an update on the FAQ page on cirrusdesign.com re: this issue. Basically it is because the output is displayed on the ARNAV, and computing the map position requires a heading output that the HSIs on the B and C models provide, but the DG on the A model does not.
