As suggested I pulled the plane out and connected power and it worked just fine on the ground for a full 30 minutes. I’ll try it again next trip in the air and see. But no glitches for a half hour.
I’ve yet to be able to use it in the air.
Are we sure that Starlink still supports flight speeds on the Roam plan? Has anyone gotten in-flight internet on a Roam plan in, say, the last 2 weeks?
What it says on the Starlink site today (15 Feb 2026):
This is different from what the Starlink site said on 15 Jan 2026:
Paging @ErikGun because I read his article in the current COPA Pilot and started looking into this today…
Thinking I’m glad I never nixed the Local Priority. Honestly, not a surprise they’d change this again. Will be interesting to see if basic Roam is still working for anyone.
I flew yesterday. 200 mbps download speed at cruise.
I’ll test in the next half hour
This sounds like a cable problem. This cable from Amazon is recommended by True Blue to work with their 100W USB-C and is also confirmed to work with my Jackery 100W.
That cable on amazon specifically say in the title:
vienon 5ft USB C to DC 5.5mm x 2.1mm Power Charging Cord for Laptop (5521), 20V USB Type C Male Input to DC 5.5 x 2.1mm Male Power Charging Cable up to 100W(Not Comaptible with Starlink)
Well I took the plane up today for a short ride and it is working at least at 140 knots and low altitude. No change in cable or Jackery. Hopefully it will keep working!
I can confirm this cable works with Jackery 100 and also True Blue 100W USB-C outlet as True Blue recommends these cables (funny it states otherwise in the amazon description). I do have the snow melt feature OFF. I just updated the SL with the battery and Vienon cable at home, but I’d probably recommend one of the other two just in case:
I went on a 4 hour trip twice in the last 2 days, to Dallas area and back to Tennessee. It worked great both ways. Only issue was on the return flight. I turned on the battery and had wifi on the ground. In the air it didn’t work and had to turn the battery off then back on and it worked fine. I don’t know if that’s the cable, the Jackery power unit, or it just gets jostled on taxi/takeoff and disconnects. For now I just need to order a new cord that’s much longer so I have easier access to the battery.
I did my second trip with Starlink this weekend. It dropped connection twice for a few minutes, and came back on its own. I also got an “antenna misalignment” error. Not sure how to address that given it is fixed on a Bradket.
Any help appreciated.
Was it doing a software update and reboot?
Had that last flight.
That vantage pic though ![]()
Misaligned error is common and doesn’t really matter as it’s always moving. Doesn’t seem to meaningfully affect speed.
Drop may have been software update… app will show status… I usually update it during flight when not needed as unlike my home which does it at 3am … it needs it. Takes a few minutes and will be offline
Use app to confirm snow melt off helps with power use and obstruction “confusion”
I flew today, and my Roam plan continued to work fine.
I think the two are unrelated Shyam. I get that misalignment error message from time to time. Can’t do anything to fix it in a moving platform but it is has never affected performance. It was complaining once and I ran a speed test, got over 200 meg, so obviously it was being fussy but not affected.
Others have said it might have been SW updates and I suppose it could be. SL does do them OTA, but I have never had it automatically reboot to install them. I have to manually ok it. Maybe something else is up. Might even be an antenna problem. Keep using it to collect data and experience.
Can anyone recommend a USB C to Starlink cord longer than 6 feet?
Works great/without issue to date
