SR20 Insurance

After reading the SR22 insurance costs and having a near coronary…I am #720 (oct 2002, reality check tells me 2003 april or so) I currently fly a 79 piper dakota, 235hp. I am low time pilot and only cert for 14 months about 200 hours, currently paying $1700/year thru AIG.
Anyone have any idea whay Iwould be paying for the SR20? I am assuming I will have about 500 hrs and I hope I will be done with my IFR ticket. Any help is appreciated

It seems I remember the AOPA guy saying you can count on 1% of the hull value plus liability of about $700. e.g if hull value is $230k the total premium should work out to something like $3000 ($2300+700). Coverage is $1 million total though, not smooth. Also, this was for a low time Instr. rated pilot.

Don, my quote was for a hull value of $210k which would account for most of the difference.
