SR20/22 100LL/ auto fuel

Has anyone spoken with Cirrus regarding the pahse out of 100LL fuel? What does this mean to the the Cirrus owners?

Has anyone spoken with Cirrus regarding the pahse out of 100LL fuel? What does this mean to the the Cirrus owners?

I spoke with Alan K. at the Long Beach AOPA conference about this. He said that Cirrus is not building a gasoline turbocharged airplane due to the probability of 100LL being phased out. The company appears to be confident that the normally aspirated engines will work fine on the likely replacements for 100LL. Alan said that at this point the company plans on offering a turbocharged engine when the new diesels are certified. Alan said that it “wouldn’t be fair” to sell someone an airplane that can only use 100LL when the fuel is soon to be phased out.

Kudos to Cirrus for taking this position. Note that this issue doesn’t seem to bother the likes of Cessna, Piper, Beech, Lancair…
