Yesterday I was doing touch-and-go’s in the pattern and I smelled electrical type smoke. Shortly thereafter, smoke started coming out on the right side of the area between the autopilot (C configuration) and the transponder.
Smoke stopped when I turned off the master, and landed safely. Anyone else have this problem? Might be helpful as we try to understand what happened. I’ll post follow-up.

Andy,
Whatever the cause, it seems you handled it “by the book”. Well done. Obviously, we’re very interested to know what’s found when that avionics stack/harness is examined.
Mike.

Here’s the follow-up. All things considered, good news. The problem came from inside the autopilot unit. Good news in terms of ease of repair; great news in terms of it looks like it was not related to anything with the airplane or its design. Local FBO (Thunder Aviation), who is a Cirrus service center, has been terrific.
