Interesting numbers. However I’m not sure that they are all inclusive. Example: S-Tec’s quoted numbers do not include the cost of installation harness - about $800.00 for an S-Tec 30. S-Tec will give you an estimate of average shop time needed to install any of their units. Figure 40 hours for a System 30. You can get some cheap quotes for S-Tec autopilots from several avionics suppliers [they also do not include the harness in their price]. The problem is that in order for the S-Tec unit to be under warranty it must be installed by an S-Tec dealer [unless the unit is installed in a home-built]. Having shopped every aspect of an S-Tec 30 for “best value” [unit,harness,labor from authorized dealer] and installed same in my 172 I think the CD prices, at least on this count, are a good value. Unsure about the other avionics you’ve listed. Comments from others who’ve shopped these?
