Just when I thought I was getting to really like the Arnav, I see this pic on the AOPA web site:

I know UPSAT was promising to add approach chart capability to the MX20 – maybe they already have by now – but I didn’t know they were even going to add airport diagrams.
It helps alot to see the legs of an approach on the Arnav (and even the holds on the 430). But can you imagine how much it would add to situational awareness to see your position on actual approach plates and airport diagrams?
The MX20 specs indicate it has 640x480 resolution. Does anyone know the resolution of the Arnav display? (it’s not on their web page) It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s also 640x480 — does this imply that someday, someone might be able to just change the software driving the Arnav and have this type of capability?
Just dreaming aloud…

Steve: I agree. That’s a very helpful image to have at an unfamiliar airport. I have forgotton the name of the contact person at ARNAV, but in my last exchange with him he was very helpful and knowledgable. There should be no reason why ARNAV can not display the same information. I think the resolution and system memory are comparable to the MX20. If you find out more from ARNAV please let us know.
In the meanwhile, there is the cabability of a more basic airport map that displays on the Sandel EHIS, if your bird is so equipped. This display will show your position in relation to the runways but does not show the taxiways, ramps, buildings, etc. that the MX20 does.
