The next Lunch-Bunch event is planned for Saturday, August 26th at Marietta McCollum (KRYY) from 11:00 - 4:00. Transportation will be provided from McCollum airport (KRYY) Northside Aviation to downtown Kennesaw where we will have lunch at the famous Whistle Stop Café. Across the street from the café, you can visit the memorial park where the Confederate locomotive “General” was captured by Union spies on April 12, 1862, starting the Great Locomotive Chase. For those interested, we will tour the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History (at a discounted rate) where “The General” is located. The museum is just across the tracks from the memorial park. Other items of interest located within easy walking distance are By-Gone Treasures, Collectibles & Antiques, Kennesaw Trains & Hobbies, and Dent Meyer’s “Wildman’s” Civil War Surplus (truly a one of a kind experience you won’t want to miss). There is also a small playground across the street from the museum to allow an energy outlet for our young flyers. Northside Aviation has offered a $0.25 per gallon fuel discount for all Lunch-Bunch flyers (cash, check or Shell credit card). Transportation to/from McCollum and the Whistle Stop Café (a 1.5 mile trip) will be available throughout the period from 11 am to 4 pm.
Additionally, from 2pm to 4pm, SimTrain (located at RYY) will have their full motion simulator available for demo flights for anyone. Even though this is a Cirrus simulator, you need not be a Cirrus flyer to do the demo flight.
Headcounts for this Lunch Bunch are a MUST. Reply to this post to let me know how many, if you are attending the museum and if you would like to visit the sim.
Hope to see y’all and bring the kids.
