I’ve been flying N84MR from my home base for a week now, and I’ve done my share of answering the ATC question, “Say again aircraft type?”. I actually enjoy it, especially when it starts a little conversation on the air.
A couple of examples from yesterday and today…
Yesterday:
Albany Approach: “Four Mike Romeo, say type”.
N84MR: Cirrus SR20, FAA designator Sierra Romeo Two Zero.
Albany Approach: Is that the 'plane that you land with a parachute?
Today:
Wilkes Barre Tower: “Four Mike Romeo, say type”.
N84MR: Cirrus SR20, FAA designator Sierra Romeo Two Zero.
Wilkes Barre Tower: “Roger. Say again the manufacturer.”
N84MR: “Cirrus Design, in Duluth, Minnesota.”
Wilkes Barre Tower: “Can you spell that?”
N84MR: “Charlie India Romeo Romeo Uniform Sierra.”
Wilkes Barre Tower: “Roger, understand ‘Cirrus’. Please spell the place in Minnesota.”
N84MR: Delta Uniform Lima Uniform…
Any others out there?
Mike.

I bet that Cirrus would get a kick out of publishing these and similar encounters as a continuing feature in their company/customer newsletter.
Talking about news letters… you should get your copy today. Full of good stuff.
Have a great Cirrus day.
PS Another happy Cirrus moved in to NJ. (LDJ)
