Ditching and the Chute

On the topic of “when to use the Chute”, if one has no alternative but to "ditch " the SR20, would deploying the chute be reasonable?. The aircraft is a total loss in any case, but what about the difference in impact?

When ditching, your kinetic energy is 1/2 times gross weight times square of speed - say 65 knots horizontal plus 5 knots vertical. Using the chute, its only 20 knots vertical. This is less than 10% of the energy which you have to dissipate!!! Also, the plane will (hopefully) not flip over the nose.
