Cust Update June 28th Engine Monitoring !!??!!

I guess most of you have read the customer

update. I find the comments about adding

engine monitoring completely crazy (have

written to Cirrus).

Its probably not their fault but just demonstrates

the complexities of building and certifying

a new plane.

The issue I am refering to is you can get
a SR20 with different cowl, autopilot, additional

avionics Sandel HSI, Skywatch traffic etc.

But can you get one of the original advertised

options built by the factory NO !!.

Arnav Engine monitoring cannot be ordered as

a factory option or installed after market by

the factory service center.

Beats me !!!

In my view, the lack of engine monitoring is a r-e-a-l problem. My strongly-preferred solution would be a “simple” GEM/JPI/etc – WITHOUT ARNAV connection. Why spend several thousand $$, add needless complexity and cost, and wait forever? As a gut whose present GEM caught potentially serious problems TWICE, this is a real issue for me. But – the bottom line? CD apparently did not plan for this! Grrr.
