Clarification from Sandel re. Skywatch display

I just received an email today from Mark Mahan, Tech Support, Sandel, regarding Skywatch. It reads as follows:

"Dr. Mr. Shirley:

The Sandel SN3308 has no provisions to display any information from the BF Goodrich Skywatch. We have had requests for this feature and are researching the possibility of adding this feature to the SN3308. The WX500 Stormscope can be displayed on the Sandel, GNS430 and ARNAV display in the SR22. Each device displaying Stormscope data will be independent of the others, allowing independent selection of mode and range.

I believe Gordy did say that Sandel displayed on the 430’s and the Sandel…hmmmm.

Also, I spoke with ARNAV re: displaying Skywatch. They just purchased the software development package from Goodrich and expect Skywatch to be available on ARNAV with a guesstimate of earliest next spring/summer.

Alex: The ARNAV news is definately good news. For all of the complaints about ARNAV it does have two things going for it.

First it has a large number of data ports available, and secondly it appears to be flexable enough to permit improvements like the Skywatch display by software upgrades.

Actually, the more you look at the Sandel, the more you can see that there is a lot going on there right now. Between the “pop up” capability of the Garmins for Skywatch, the dedicated Skywatch screen of the Garmin, and now hopefully display on the ARNAV there should be plenty of traffic displays available.
