I’m not a big fan of having the tank in the front seat either, but I don’t see how this would affect the survivability of the pilot in a crash. Is your concern that the tank would come loose and rupture?

I would be less concerned about a rupture than just coming lose and bouncing around the cabin and into the people. What good is staying in your seat something that heavy becomes a battering ram.
