Anyone know for certain if the C Models coming out of the factory now are including GPS Steering? Have heard talk of people adding it, but have also read of planes coming out of the factory with it installed. It is not clear to me whether / when it will be included as standard. I know the Stec models previously in the A and B configurations did not have it, but the 55 has been part of the C Model since the beginning. Thanks…

I was #37 and the GPSS was not instalaled nor included with the C model. There has been a kbacklog at S-Tec because it is a new item. It lhas now been installaed in my airplane and it is the only way to go. Works perfectly.

The option list that Cirrus gave me when I signed my contract in June shows “STEC 55 with GPSS steering” as included in the C package. The date on that option list is February 2000.

Hi Gordy,
GPSS update/grade sounds like a nobrainer. Can you supply some detail on the upgrade please? Is it S/W only? Field retrofit, shop or factory return? $'s involved?
Thanks million!

Hi Han
I installed the GPSS switch next to the flap switch - a perfect place for it. The unit should be purchased with the switch and the control box separate. The control box can then be mounted anywhere under the panel. The switch is 3/4" x 1-1/4" and the depth will fit easily beside the flap switch.
The unit lists for $695.00 and I beliveve I had it installled by a local avionics shop for about $700 total. In other words, he made enough on the unit to pay for his labor and profit. Cirrus doesn’t get into installing any toys which we may wish to have.

Sorry, I lied. The installed price for the GPSS switch was $945.00
Hi Gordy,
No harm done. I asked a quote and mentioned your (original) price. Wait and see…
Cheers
