2022 SR22 G6 AC not blowing cold air

Anyone have any history with an SR 22 not blowing cold air when the air conditioner is engaged?
We recently picked this plane up and come to find out the AC is not working.
Hot summer days in Utah it would be nice to have an AC
My assumption is it will be low refrigerant or a leak in the lines but just seeing if anyone else else’s had this issue and what their fix was

Have you confirmed the AC compressor is turning? Did the belt to the compressor fail? It would be a bit odd for a 3 year old unit to lose refrigerant that soon but it happens.

I am
With Dr T as well. Check to see if the drive rotates freely when the engine is off…and top cowl….(easy pilot thing)

Call me if you have questions..

See if blows cold air on recirc. They might have left the intake hose on the right side of the cowl off.

Or pull the top cowl and look.

If the plane had any inspection/oil change etc before you got it then they may have not connected the hose/duct to the cowling. The ac will work on recirc but when off it is off it’ll blow hotter air because it can’t cool the hot engine air.

I have a 2021 SR22 G6 that had the same problem. My needle in the haystack solution turned out to be a pin that had pushed out of the connector that powered the AC condenser fan. It was pin 15 in connector 659. Yes, it took more than a day to track that one down!

Hopefully one of the suggestions made already will fix your problem.

It does not blow cold on recirc either.

Have not yet but tomorrow when I’m at the hangar I will verify this and report back.

Check the mixer ? There is a little doodad that turns when you turn the knob to cold that mixes both cold and hot before it enters the cabin. Mine was a little angled too far to the hot side causing the hot air to cancel the cold air.

Picking up my plane today from shop for same issue. Mechanic said it needed more refrigerant

My plane did this on the way home from picking up new back in 2021. I can’t recall the fix now but was easy and no issues since.

Same here, adding Freon fixed ours.

How old are your planes? If more than 4 years old refrigerant is the most common cause of hot air blowing. The OPs plane is a bit young for that.

2018 so maybe the right age for a Freon boost

I have a SR22 NA 2023, had to replace the compressor assembly (under warranty) two weeks ago. The “drive shaft” was turning freely, broken inside the housing. Was not a Freon issue. The entire assembly was replaced. Let me know if you want the log book entry or part number but what you describe is exactly what I encountered (assuming it was working fine previously)

I have been having a similar issue, G5 2013 SR22. Finally got it sorted out and turned out that a ground wire under the copilots seat had come loose. They retightened it (sorry I did not participate to know the exact wire) and the system is cooling very well now.

Same here with a loose connector on the compressor low pressure switch. 2014 G5. Good fix.

My 2022 22T has had the compressor go out about 6 mos after pick up. Controller went out about a year after. No issues in about a year.

My 2023 had an issue where the heat valve would not close fully when moving the rheostat into the cold position. And even with it only open a half inch or so, the amount of hot air coming off the exhaust, that hot air well over-powered the cold A/C air, which made it feel like the A/C was not working. So make sure that your heat valve closes completely.

FWIW - Do you have the control knob turned to cold and not hot? If you have the knob to the right it will blissfully blow hot air, even with the AC on…..Thought mine was broken until I realized I had the dial on red, not blue!!
