Well, most of the 17 COPA members and guests who flew out to the Abacos in the Bahamas returned. We left the U.S. with 8 planes, but I think only 6 returned! It appears that Lyall “Bonefish” Stilp and Rick “This retirement thing isn’t half bad” Beach, may have decided to stay on an additional few days.
A lot of alcohol was consumed, a bit of salt water was swallowed, a pig gave his (her?) all for a pig roast and the group was treated to the best prime rib available in the Bahamas! (That really was the plan guys! For those of you who weren’t there, Bahamian prime rib is lobster tail. - That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! [:$])
Rick Beach received the “Virtual Longest Trip Award” coming all the way from southern California, and Roger Ferman, gets our “Virtual Christopher Columbus Explorer’s Award” for adventuring out in a whirlwind, three hour flight around most of the northern and central Bahamian islands. Roger and his CFI, Aaron, were treated to some spectacular views of some of the most beautiful waters in the western hemisphere. Mike “Captain Ahab” Murdock received the award for the greatest fish story with his unverified[;)] sighting of a large number of whales on his return trip.
Thanks to all who attended to make our first Bahamian Adventure a success. I will send an email in the next few days with everyone’s email addresses.
To those of you who couldn’t make it this time, we hope to see you next year. Pics should be available soon.
