Silver lining - aka white gel :-(

There’s one good thing about not having had our SR20 #36 delivered yet - it hasn’t been affected by the fuel contamination here in Australia. I haven’t been able to fly anything since Christmas because most of the piston-engined planes in Australia are grounded after Mobil supplied contaminated avgas.

The contamination was due to ethylene diamine in the fuel, which corrodes copper and brass, and also forms a white gel in the fuel tanks. Mobil and CASA are still trying to work out a method for testing for problems in the grounded planes and a cleaning method.

Enjoy your SR20, Sam!
