Maximum Altitude

According to the POH (downloaded from Cirrus’ web site), the SR20 has a “maximum altitude” of 17,000 ft. Is this the same as the service ceiling (i.e., the max. altitude at which the plane will still climb at 100 fpm gross weight in a clean configuration)? If not, what is the service ceiling?

17,500 ft. seems high for a non-turbo engine, and I was wondering what the current owners have experienced regarding the SR20’s ability to climb above adverse weather.

Thanks.
