Hat switch pitch trim controller location

I own a 2014 sr22.
I understand two separate electric systems control pitch…

  1. The autopilot uses the gta82 located under the passenger seat
  2. The pitch trim hat switch.

My autopilot pitch control works fine with the pitch wheel.
The hat switch on both yokes fails to actuate pitch trim (roll works fine)
*Does anyone know where I can find the pitch trim hat switch controller, and what partnumber it is.

Thanks

J,

Does the Co pilot trim switch also fail to actuate?

Jim

Yes. Thanks Jim. Both hat switches do not actuate pitch trim. Both work for roll trim.

Jodee,

There is no pitch trim hat switch controller. In aircraft prior to the Perspective, there were a series of relays that controlled pitch trim in manual mode, and for autotrim which is controlled by the autopilot computer. In the Perspective, that has been modified to where manual pitch trim (the hat switch) and the autotrim (autopilot) both go into the GTA 82 Pitch Trim Adapter, and the output of the GTA is what drives the motor.

Aside from possibly a broken wiring at the pitch trim motor (unlikely), the GTA is a bit of a weak link in this system, I recommend you go to the AUX - SYSTEM STATUS page on your MFD and scroll down to GTA and see if you have a red X displayed. Also, what if any alert messages and annunciations are being displayed on the PFD? If you have a red PTRM displayed, you likely have a red X next to GTA on your status page and possibly requires replacement.

I’m aware of a connector under the aft RH passengers feet, P1168, where the autopilot wiring goes through, including the trim switch wiring, and it has required cleaning. It’s very quick to do and well worth the time. I hope this has helped.
