GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Cirrus Design Corp. rolled out the first fuselage manufactured in Grand Forks Friday morning.
It’s an important step for the company’s facility here.
Until recently, the Grand Forks plant made some components but not the entire fuselage. But production has recently shifted to the Grand Forks plant, and the company has a goal of completing a plane a day.
The plant’s 124 workers are already nearing Cirrus’ goal.
“We’re so close it’s immeasurable,” said plant manager John Hitchcock.
His workers are making four to five fuselages a week, he said.
Eventually, the plant hopes to make three to five a day, Hitchcock said.
