Electronics International Inc. is updating its approved model list on its electronic, recording tachometer for the Cirrus SR-20. This will record tach time above a certain level (1300 rpms, I believe), as well as record “flight time,” which is a yet higher rpm. The current Cirrus tach does not record and you must rely on Hobbs time to keep track of maintenance, which will always be higher than the tach time. Here is a response I received from EI. The list price is apx $500.
The Cirrus SR20 aircraft is not yet listed on our Approved Model List. However, we are in the process of updating our AML for the latest aircraft. I did research the SR-20 and the power plant used is a standard engine therefore, I can provide you with a letter stating that we are upgrading our documents and that the Cirrus SR-20 will be listed on our AML.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions.
Thanks again,
